Match Report

Jersey Bulls, in front of their highest attendance and already assured of a top two finish, emphatically ensured they finished top with a 100% record over their 18 match season with a goal record of 144-15. They demolished Milford & Witley who had finished 3rd in the qualifying section and the vanquished team will now face a struggle to take the second promotion spot. The “Flying Flynn”, Roisin, on the right flank, making her first full start at Springfield this season had a memorable match, scoring five and assisting with two more, ably supported by Anita Tavares who had the reverse figures.

Ella Brennand came in for Aine Ruth who ruled out by concussion protocol after her head injury last week. Rachael McCartan, Chantelle Renouard and Sophie Thornton were all on the bench with Taylor Smythe dropping out.

Holly Sundby, who grabbed a second half hat-trick, put through Tavares to open the scoring but Lara-Mae Kilmer equalised immediately. Flynn quickly restored the lead and Samantha Silva-Pinto made it 3-1 after only quarter of an hour. Flynn scored her second, but Teage Hammond responded to leave the interval score 4-2. Jersey ran away with it in the twenty minutes after the break with Flynn the first to a hat-trick, Sundby adding a hat-trick of her own along with a second for Tavares. Flynn scored the goal of the game with a heat-seeking missile to the top left corner with a quarter of an hour remaining to take the score to double figures. Emily Smith added a third for Milford before Leah Morris eventually got on the score sheet after a nicely weighted pass from substitute Sophie Thornton. Another substitute, goalkeeper Chantelle Renouard, was made to earn her corn for the few minutes she was on before Flynn added her fifth in stoppage time to the take the team’s total for the season to a gross.
