Match Report

The “Tanners” first team play one level above Jersey in Division One South-Central of the Isthmian League. They first entered the F.A. Youth Cup in 1979-80 and in the early 80’s had a string of home ties against Football League opposition. They went down 0-2 to Chelsea in 1982-3, held Brentford 1-1 the following season before losing 0-5 at Griffin Park in the replay, and 0-1 against Wimbledon in 1984-5. They then dropped out of the competition for a decade before returning in 1995-6 since when they have been regular entrants. Like Jersey, Leatherhead received a bye in the Extra Preliminary Round before winning 2-0 at Chessington & Hook United in the Preliminary Round two weeks ago.

Jersey made two changes to the team that defeated Metropolitan Police in the previous round. Substitutes that day Max Stefanski and Evan Lees, who both scored after coming on, replaced Kyle Wilson and Stanley Dunne respectively. They were both on the bench along with newcomer, defender Eddie Rothwell. Harry Ecobichon and Dylan McGee substitutes last time, the latter scoring, did not make the trip.
