Match Preview: Deal Town (H)

After a narrow midweek defeat away at Broadbridge Heath, we look ahead to tomorrow, when the Bulls return to Springfield to take on playoff hopefuls Deal Town.

The Bulls’ three game unbeaten run came to a frustrating end on Tuesday night in our 2-1 defeat. However, there are still many positives that can be taken from that performance and should be used as confidence as we head into Saturday.

This season, we remain one of only two teams in the league that are unbeaten at home, with the only other team being the current league leaders: Three Bridges. This will act as a huge confidence boost for the team going into Saturday’s game, knowing their impressive record at Springfield.

A win on Saturday would be huge for the Bulls, as this could lead to us climbing up two spots and into the top half, should both the teams above lose. This is down to us having a much better goal difference than the teams above.

Deal Town are coming into this game full of confidence off the back of their second half demolition of promotion hunting Faversham Town. Deal, who went into the break 1-0 down, managed to find the back of the net four times in the second 45, leading to a well earned 4-1 win and closing the gap on the playoff pack.

Deal Town away from home this season have had mixed successes, winning half of their matches and losing the other half. Most notable of their away wins would be their 2-1 win over fellow playoff rivals Herne Bay. An aspect that Deal will be looking to improve on is their defensive record away from home, this is due to the fact that they haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet so far this season and something they will be hoping to change on Saturday.

Deal Town are a club that’s clearly on the rise. After winning promotion back in 2024, they have made massive strides in this division, already finishing just two spots outside the playoffs in their first season back at this level since relegation back in 2004. The visitors will be looking to continue this upward trajectory this season by going two places better this time around. A win on Saturday could see them take a huge step in this quest, as if Margate and Herne Bay both drop points, Deal would move up into a playoff place.

With both clubs on the up and having strong starts to the season, it is set to be a fantastic occasion on Saturday. With kick off at 16:03 at Springfield, ensure to get down to the ground and let your support be heard in a very tough test for the Bulls.
