Springfield Stadium Passes Step 4 Accreditation

Jersey Bulls FC is delighted to announce that Springfield Stadium has officially met the required stadium criteria for Step 4 of the National League System.

When a club achieves promotion, the Football Association provides a grace period until March 31st of their debut season to bring their home ground up to the next level’s standards. While Springfield Stadium has long been a fantastic home for the Bulls, the transition to Step 4 football brought with it a rigorous new set of infrastructure requirements.

As of March 30th, we have successfully completed every necessary upgrade.

The Stakes

This was a critical milestone for the club’s future. Under FA regulations, failing to meet these criteria by the deadline carries severe consequences:

  • Playoff Eligibility: The club would have been barred from competing in the playoffs, regardless of league position.
  • Mandatory Relegation: Failure to comply would have resulted in an automatic demotion back to Step 5 football.

Passing this inspection ensures that our hard work on the pitch remains rewarded by our status off it.

A Community Effort

Achieving this in such a tight timeframe was only possible through a massive collaborative effort. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to The Government of Jersey for their instrumental role in these upgrades. Specifically, we want to thank Mafalda Dos Santos, James Moore, and Tim Daniels for their dedication to the project.

We also owe a debt of thanks to:

  • Constable Andy Jehan (Infrastructure Minister): For his unwavering support of the club and the stadium’s development.
  • The Active Staff and Management Team: For their flexibility and hard work in managing ever-changing matchday operations.
  • Raven Security: For ensuring our home remains a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Our Volunteers: The lifeblood of the club, who gave their time to ensure every detail was addressed.

To Our Fans

Most importantly, we want to thank you, the supporters. We recognise that these upgrades have occasionally caused disruption, and we are incredibly grateful for your patience.

Remarkably, while these changes were taking place, our fan base hasn't just adapted—it has grown. To see record numbers coming through the turnstiles during our first season at Step 4 is a testament to the football community in Jersey. Your vocal support as the team continues to chase a promotion spot to Step 3 is what drives this club forward.

We aren't stopping here. Now that we have crossed the accreditation line, we will continue to look for ways to improve the matchday experience at Springfield.

Adam Budworth, Chair of the Jersey Bulls expressed thanks to Ed Peck, the Bulls Operations Director, for his perseverance and dedication in ensuring the club complies with all the regulations of playing football at this level. He has ensured the impact on the fans has been minimised whilst at the same time managing all stakeholders to achieve the desired outcome. The recent changes the Bulls have made to match day operations are here to stay; if we revert to our previous processes and policies we will get relegated.

The recent changes to our matchday operations ensure the safety of every fan, Jersey Bulls FC currently operates within the strict intersection of five different regulatory frameworks for every matchday:

  • FA Stadium Accreditation Criteria: The mandatory physical and structural standards required for all National League System grounds.
  • Isthmian Football League Rules: The specific operational and sporting regulations set by our league.
  • The Green Guide (SGSA): The UK government’s definitive guide to safety at sports grounds, governing everything from exit widths to terrace capacities.
  • Springfield Operations Manual: Our localised guide for managing the specific requirements at Springfield Stadium.
  • Jersey Sport’s Health Check: Ensuring we meet local standards for safe, sustainable, and well-governed sport within the Island.

By following these guidelines, we aren't just ticking boxes; we are professionalising the club and meeting standards to ensure the safety of all at the home of Jersey Football.

Thank you for being part of the journey. See you at the next home game!
