They had met last season in the F.A. Trophy and after a much delayed journey caused by a pan European cyber attack on the airport system Jersey had started slowly. They were three down in under twenty minutes and eventually lost 0-4. Harrow finished 8th with a record of 18-10-44 66-66 and would be looking to improve upon that which this season would take them into the expanded play-offs which now go down to seventh place. This season with the semi-retirement of their midfield supremo Luke Watson Jersey were adopting a new formation of 4-2-3-1.

Jersey started the brighter with Miguel Carvalho breaking clear in the opening minute and putting in a low cross that was hooked away for a corner. Harrow came back into the match after quarter of an hour but Jersey spurned a glorious opportunity after 25 minutes. Carvalho beat a couple of defenders on the right and found Jack Lumsden near the penalty spot, but his rising shot was too close to Trent Carter-Rogers in the Harrow goal and the ‘keeper was able to palm it away for another corner.

Harrow had their first “sniff” at goal when Pierce Roche slipped on the dry surface on the edge of his area, but Harry Curtis got back to prevent Oluseye Okunlola finishing off the subsequent cross. It was a ‘keeper error at the other end that led to the opening goal. Carter-Rogers tapped the ball forward towards Prince Mbengui who was oblivious to the situation. James Sunley nipped in, charged forward and laid the ball between the central defenders for Lorne Bickley to sweep it home to the bottom left corner from the edge of the area. Harrow substitute Sakeel Balfour-Brown could have done better within a couple of minutes of coming on. He did not make a good connection when free in the right channel and Roche was able to gather easily. Just before the hour Lumsden had another good chance when a Jay Giles free kick found him unmarked near the penalty spot, but his downward header was too close to Carter-Rogers.

With quarter of an hour remaining Jersey were fortunate to survive a penalty shout when Curtis manhandled substitute Gareth Chendlik to the floor and within seconds of this Balfour-Brown seemed surprised when the ball arrived at the right post a couple of yards out and the danger passed. Shortly afterwards Jersey substitute Casey Nixon gave Bickley a chance for his second, but Carter-Rogers flew to his left to push the ball away. This was the last Jersey threat, and they spent the last fifteen minutes or so repelling numerous Harrow forays that looked dangerous but lacked incisiveness as Jersey hung for the three points.
