Jersey played their first match after the four week Christmas/New Year break at Aldershot, the match being moved from the hosts usual ground at Abbey Rangers in Addlestone to ensure it went ahead after Storm Goretti blew through on Thursday. Hartland were lying eighth (4-0-3 22-13) but with games in hand over the teams above them and therefore still in with a chance to qualify for the top half play-offs in the latter half of the season. They won 2-1 at second placed Meadow Sports in the last match before the break but then lost 2-6 at home to third placed Milford and Witley in a re-arranged match last week.

Jersey were missing Emily Le Page, captain Holly Sundby and Taylor Smythe from their last match. Natasha Keen, Rachael McCartan and the returning Sam Silva replaced them. Coco Leonard and Soraya Da Conceicao replaced Keen and Amy Guthrie on the bench.

Hartland shocked the Jersey team by taking the lead after quarter of an hour with a shot from Amy Littlewood on the edge of the area finding the bottom corner. The first goal conceded in five matches. Jersey got back on terms ten minutes later when Keen cut in and found Leah Morris who made no mistake for the equaliser. The roles were reversed just before the break when Morris crossed for Kean to bundle the ball in at the far post. The match continued to be closely contested until near the end when after a scramble Sam Silva finished off a Morris corner for Jersey’s third goal to seal the win.
