Jersey looked to avenge their defeat at Sheppey in October, a match where they had had sufficient opportunities to take all three points, rather than returning empty handed after conceding an added time winner. Sheppey were now 13th (10-6-10 46-52) with home draws against Eastbourne and Beckenham being their most recent results with a squad much changed since Jersey last met them.

Jersey made two changes to the squad that had drawn at Sittingbourne last week. Luke Campbell, back from holiday, and Fraser Barlow, replacing Jay Giles and substitute goalkeeper Pierce Roche. Campbell and Barlow were both on the bench. Carr was elevated from there to replace Giles in the starting line-up as was Rai Dos Santos with Adam Trotter dropping down to the bench.

Sheppey brought in Tamas Amgbaduba for Archie Johnson who was on the bench where Jacob Lambert displaced Ashton David.

Jersey ground out a win against a Sheppey side that had the majority of possession, and all of the corners. They almost took the lead in the eighth minute, but Euan Van der Vliet and Carr managed to thwart a Kieron Agbebi attempt with a clearance off the line. It was not until nearly twenty minutes later before Jersey came close when Dos Santos whistled a twenty-five yarder just wide of the left post. Shortly afterwards they took the lead against the run of play. Dos Santos fed Miguel Carvalho to his right and the youngsters low cross was scuffed home by Lorne Bickley from a yard or two out.

The lead barely survived the interval. Amgbaduba lofted in a dropping cross to the far post from the right corner of the box. Jonny Le Quesne possibly thought Euan Van der Vliet would claim it, but Le Quesne was ambushed on his blind side from where David Opoku knocked the ball down for Stanley Oldfield to sweep home past Van der Vliet from half a dozen yards.

Just after the hour Jersey started introducing substitutes and they made the difference. Jersey regained the lead when a goal kick by Van der Vliet was headed on and to the left by Bickley to newly introduced substitute Toby Ritzema. He beat Lex Allan, reached the left byline, and his low cross was finished by Bickley from five yards.

Another substitute, Franis Lekimamati, went close but Jersey were still hanging on when they were grateful an added time header from Allan went straight to Van der Vliet before Lekmamati rounded off the match by hitting a cross shot just wide of the left post.
