A straightforward win takes Jersey to Corinthian-Casuals in the last sixteen. Two goals in 74 seconds shortly before the interval knocked the stuffing out of the visitors and it was one way traffic thereafter with Jack Saleh in the Binfield goal keeping the score down, aided by some wasteful finishing by the Jersey forwards.
Luke Lister scored the first when a Darryl Mvalo cross was deflected and fell kindly for him to lift it over Saleh from close in. The goal of the game followed almost immediately. Seaney McColgan found defensive midfielder Fergus Boyle in the right channel twenty-five yards out. His shot rocketed into the top right corner with Saleh not moving although he looked to be in touching distance of it.
Substitutes combined for the third when Callum Gilroy glanced home a header from a Jay Dos Santos corner. The fourth in added time was a defensive howler. A goal kick was played across the six-yard box and then the attempted pass to the edge of the penalty box was intercepted by Seaney McColgan who waltzed past defender and ‘keeper to put the icing on the afternoon’s cake.
